Product Information

The products offered by MarketPlace are made with pride and care by artisans in India. The fabrics are hand block batiked, hand block printed, tie-dyed, hand painted or handwoven. These fabric-printing processes are all time-consuming and are done in two and one half-yard lengths. This individual treatment of the fabric, as well as the hand embroidery on each item, add to its handcrafted quality. Colors may vary slightly as will some of the embroidery, but you can be sure that you will receive a unique hand made item which is not only beautiful, but also empowers the artisans who have made it.

Sizing

Fit explanations:

  • Classic fit: Garment fit is body skimming without being tight. Armhole seam sits on natural shoulder bone.
  • Relaxed fit: Garment has ease through shoulder, chest and hips. Shoulder is slightly dropped. If you prefer a more classic fit, you can consider sizing down. Most of our garments are relaxed fit.
  • Loose fit: Garment is designed with an exaggerated proportion. It is meant to be oversized. If you prefer a less oversized look, you may want to size down.
  • Oversized fit: Garment is designed with an extremely exaggerated proportion. It is meant to be very oversized. If you prefer a less oversized look, you may want to size down.

Please take time to find the right size by using a measuring tape. (Petite is under 5' 4'') Measurements reflect recommended body measurements for size.

How to Measure:

  • Bust: Measure under arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
  • Waist: Measure around your natural waistline keeping the tape relaxed.
  • Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips or measure when sitting in a chair.
  • Pant Length (Outseam): Measure from your natural waist to your ankle.
  • Pant Length (Inseam): Measure from the top of your inner thigh to your ankle.
  • Top & Dress Length: Measure from the shoulder high-point down.

    Tips for the Right Fit

    MarketPlace garments are designed to have a relatively loose fit. The jackets and vests are sized to layer over shirts, tops, or a sweater. Please take time to find the right size by using a measuring tape. Garment Measurement charts are located on each product page. Most MarketPlace products are 100% cotton, but the fabrics are pre-washed so shrinkage is minimal. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

    MarketPlace stands by the quality of the garments it produces. Your satisfaction supports our goals of self-sufficiency and self-respect for the artisans. If you are not pleased for any reason with your purchase, please feel free to return it in its original condition within 30 days for a full refund of the value of the item. Please see "Returns and Exchange" in this section.

    Returns and Exchanges

    The artisans work hard to produce a good-quality and well-designed product, and we want you to be happy with your purchase.

    If you are not satisfied with your purchase, however, MarketPlace accepts returns and exchanges within 30 days of receipt. All clothing items must be in original, unworn condition with tags attached/included, and in original packaging.

    Please note that MarketPlace does not pay for return shipping or refund original shipping charges unless the item sent was damaged or we sent the wrong item by mistake.

    Please do not return items without prior approval. Click here to create a request for a Return Merchandise Authorization Number (RMA #). You will need to have your order information handy to complete the request. Once the request is submitted, customer service will send you your RMA #. If you have additional questions, please contact Customer Service at 1.800.726.8905 or via email at customerservice@marketplaceindia.com

    RMA # requests are processed during regular Customer Service hours, Monday - Thursday 9am - 6pm, Friday 9am - 3pm ET. Requests may take up to 48 hours to process.

    Once you receive your RMA # fill out the Return/Exchange Form which was included with your order and record the RMA # on it. This will expedite the return process at our warehouse.

    Returns sent via U.S. Postal Service should be insured for your protection. Retain a copy of your return tracking number for your records.

    FOR EXCHANGES: Once we receive the original item, we will credit the original payment method and put in a new order with no shipping charge for the exchange. If paying by credit card, you will see a credit for the original item and a new charge for the exchange on your statement. Credits can take up to a week to appear on a statement, depending on the bank/credit card company policies.

    FOR DAMAGED GOODS: If you received merchandise that is damaged, please return the item(s) to us using the above procedure. Once the item has been received and checked at our warehouse, we will refund you the amount of the product in addition to initial shipping charges.

    RECYCLE/REUSE: If you have the original packing bag, simply turn it inside out, seal it with your item and paperwork inside, and place a mailing label on the outside.

    If you prefer a replacement item instead of a refund, we will send it without charge for shipping.

    When returning damaged goods, please indicate if you are requesting a refund or a replacement.

    REFUNDS: All refunds are given in the form of the original payment. For all credit card purchases, please allow additional time for the credit to appear on your statement. If you paid by check, we will mail your refund check within 15 business days after receipt of the return.
    Colorado residents: The Colorado Retail Delivery Fee is not refundable.
