A Morning of Truth, Breath, and Balance: The Artisans Celebrate International Yoga Day - Vol 11

There's something quietly powerful about a room full of women pausing their busy lives to breathe, stretch, and listen. That's exactly what happened this International Yoga Day, when the artisan community gathered for a celebration that was reflection and renewal.

The artisans have been engaged with Yoga for the last 5 years having weekly sessions in their groups.  The attendance varies and this celebration was a means to inspire more dedication and understanding of Yoga.

The day opened not with yoga mats, but with words. Dr. Hansaji Yogendra, Director of The Yoga Institute, led a “Satsang” that felt less like a lecture and more like a heart-to-heart — touching on health, relationships, family, career, and the quiet work of taking care of ourselves, all woven around a single theme: Truth.

Living truthfully, she explained, isn't just a moral ideal. It's a practical path to a lighter life — one where honesty with ourselves and others brings stronger relationships, a calmer mind, and peace that stops feeling like something we have to search for. The message landed deeply with a room full of women balancing craft, family, and everything in between.

From there, the energy shifted. Trainers from The Yoga Institute rolled out mats for an hour-long workshop that was as much about connection as movement. Artisans tried practical, everyday yoga postures and learned why they're worth the effort: better flexibility, stronger muscles, improved posture, and a natural antidote to stress. The conversation extended to nutrition too — how the right foods build stronger bones, support tired muscles, and aid digestion. Rather than a one-way lecture, it became a dialogue, with artisans asking questions and receiving guidance tailored to their own health concerns.

What stayed with us, though, was the response of the artisans.

Artisans described the sessions as engaging, motivating, and genuinely useful. Many spoke about the personal guidance they received and a real sense of motivation to keep showing up for their own well-being. More than one woman said they now planned to make yoga a regular part of their routine — not just for a single day, but for the long run.

That's the real success of this celebration. It's easy to talk about wellness in the abstract; it's harder to make it feel personal and worth returning to. Through honest conversation, hands-on practice, and genuine exchange between trainers and artisans, this year's International Yoga Day did exactly that — leaving behind not just a good memory, but the beginning of a habit: stronger bodies, steadier minds, and a little more truth in how we live each day.
