The last year has shown how agile, creative and flexible we are. March/April 2020, was scary because the future was so unknown. However, we continued to empower the artisans and assist in helping them to maneuver the challenges presented by COVID.
Now, the images coming out of India are devastating. We had been feeling optimistic when it seemed that early actions had curbed the spread of the virus. Now this new wave of infection and treatment failures have left us feeling helpless.
The artisans once again face the challenges and obstacles that came with last year's all-India shutdown. The biggest problem for production is how closures affect the supply chain. Some fabric is made in states that have a total lock-down, inter-state transportation is in disarray, the news of the wide-spread corona cases in Mumbai has resulted in a resistance to deliver there. Without fabric, little can be done!
In these difficult times, we are so grateful for our wonderful customers. And we continue to be impressed by the artisans' determination and optimism. Together we will overcome the challenges of COVID-19 and make the world a better place.
