Filling a Jar with Gratitude
Jagruti moved to Mumbai in 2008 with her husband, hoping to give their children a better education. The transition was tough—she didn't know anyone, and connecting with other women felt impossible.
Everything changed in 2014, when she joined WARE. “Meeting other women regularly gave me friendship and support. I learned how to guide my children through school and life's challenges.” Today, her children, Pratik and Tanvi, are thriving.
One meaningful experience was a Gratitude program for mothers and children, led by a visiting psychologist. “We reflected on what we're thankful for and how to express it. At the end, our children wrote about us—many of us cried reading their words.”
Jagruti remembers her daughter's note: “She said I'm her friend; someone she can talk to. I'll always treasure that.”
Each family received a gratitude jar to fill with notes of appreciation. “Ours keeps getting fuller—soon we'll need a bigger one!”
