Embracing Technology

Our development model incorporated a lot of personal interaction and group meetings. After the lockdown we had to come up with new ways to keep in touch with the artisans and their children. Technology was the answer, but there were some obstacles to overcome: limited access to smartphones, unreliable network coverage, and the need for everyone to learn (intimidating) new skills. But never underestimate the women! They took on the challenge with determination and humor, and now Google Meets, Zoom and “muting” have become household words. To read on visit our blog

Soft, Comfortable and Well-made

I just received this soft and comfortable jacket. Although the garment is described as a Loose Fit/Boxy fit, I ordered a Medium. I'm 5'5" and 130 lbs. and it fits just as I desired. My compliments to Mumbai artisans Nitu and Razia of Utsaah Cooperative for their expert embroidery skills and a beautifully made garment. I'm always proud to wear a garment made by the women affiliated with Marketplace Handwork of India!

I just received my Embroidered Rishra Cotton Double Gauze jacket (in red) and it's perfect! Although this garment is stated to be "Loose Fit/Boxy", I'm 5'5" and 130 lbs. and ordered a size M - it fits just the way I desired. The embroidery detail is beautifully done and the garment is, as always, very well made. Thank you to Mumbai artisans Nitu and Razia of the Utsaah Cooperative for a quality garment you can be proud of. I know I'm proud and delighted to wear your creations.

Very Stylish and Comfy

I love the embroidery. The jacket is not a bright red, more of a deep paprika, which is nice and will transition to fall weather. I'll probably wear as a top more than a jacket but either way it's very beautiful, great fit too.
