We ship to the U.S., U.S. Territories, and Canada only. Canadian orders ship via USPS. Unfortunately, we do not ship to other international addresses.

If your item is in stock, we will ship your order within 3-5 business days after receipt. Each item is carefully inspected, packed, and shipped via FedEx ground shipping or U.S. Postal Service Ground Advantage or Priority Mail. Delays caused by FedEx, USPS, incorrect address, or the weather are beyond our control, but we apologize for any inconvenience.

If you do not receive your order within 14 days, please contact Customer Service at 800-726-8905 or customerservice@marketplaceindia.com. We cannot offer credit for orders not received after 30 days if we have shipped your purchase and the tracking information shows delivery has been made. If you provide an email address at the time of order, you can receive an email tracking notification.

Second Day or Next Day delivery to street addresses within the contiguous U.S. is available for an additional charge. Expedited deliveries must be placed before 12 noon Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, to ship out the same day. All orders placed after 12 noon or on Saturday and Sunday will ship out the following business day.

Sales Tax

If your state has enacted legislation to collect sales tax or regulatory fees on out-of-state purchases, your order may require the addition of state and local tax or fees.

Orders to Canada

Canadian orders ship via USPS, and any customs fees, duties, and taxes are the customer's responsibility.

Backorders

Our products involve a lot of handwork, from producing the handprinted fabric to hand embroidery. Weather conditions can interfere with some of the hand-dyeing techniques, and there are occasional unforeseen problems. This means that products you order from MarketPlace may occasionally not ship from India on time and are labeled as Backordered. If an item is on backorder when you place your order, it will be backordered and you will receive it as soon as it arrives. Be assured that the artisans are working hard to make the backordered items and get it to you as soon as possible. Customer Service will be able to give you an idea of when the backordered items will be arriving.

The artisans work hard to produce a good-quality and well-designed product, and we want you to be happy with your purchase.

If you are not satisfied with your purchase, however, MarketPlace accepts returns and exchanges within 30 days of receipt. All clothing items must be in original, unworn condition with tags attached/included, and in original packaging.

Please note that MarketPlace does not pay for return shipping or refund original shipping charges unless the item sent was damaged or we sent the wrong item by mistake. MarketPlace reserves the right to refuse or to limit returns or exchanges.

Please do not return items without prior approval. Click here to create a request for a Return Merchandise Authorization Number (RMA #). You will need to have your order information handy to complete the request. Once the request is submitted, customer service will send you your RMA #. RMA # requests are processed during regular Customer Service hours, Monday - Thursday 9am - 6pm, Friday 9am - 3pm ET. Requests may take up to 48 hours to process.

Once you receive your RMA # fill out the Return/Exchange Form which was included with your order and record the RMA # on it. This will expedite the return process at our warehouse.

Returns sent via U.S. Postal Service should be insured for your protection. Retain a copy of your return tracking number for your records.

FOR EXCHANGES: Once we receive the original item, we will credit the original payment method and put in a new order with no shipping charge for the exchange. We offer ONE free shipping exchange per original order. If paying by credit card, you will see a credit for the original item and a new charge for the exchange on your statement. Credits can take up to two weeks to appear on a statement, depending on the bank/credit card company policies.

FOR DAMAGED GOODS: If you received merchandise that is damaged, please return the item(s) to us using the above procedure. Once the item has been received and checked at our warehouse, we will refund you the amount of the product in addition to initial shipping charges.

RECYCLE/REUSE: If you have the original packing bag, simply turn it inside out, seal it with your item and paperwork inside, and place a mailing label on the outside.

If you prefer a replacement item instead of a refund, we will send it without charge for shipping.

When returning damaged goods, please indicate if you are requesting a refund or a replacement.

REFUNDS: All refunds are given in the form of the original payment. For all credit card purchases, please allow additional time for the credit to appear on your statement. If you paid by check, we will mail your refund check within 15 business days after receipt of the return.

Almost all our products are 100% cotton. A few are cotton blends, with the balance being another type of easy-care fiber. Our fabrics wash well and can be washed in a washing machine.

Follow these instructions and you will enjoy your MarketPlace garment for many years!

When washing for the first time, wash each garment separately on a gentle cycle, on a full load setting, using cold water and a mild detergent. A handful of salt or half cup of white vinegar added to the first wash will help set the dye.

Garments are pre-shrunk. Our hand-printed and hand tie-dyed fabrics have been washed, sometimes multiple times, as part of the printing process. The fabric will not shrink in a cold water wash.

WASHING:

  • Wash separately, gentle cycle
  • Cold water with a mild detergent
  • No bleach or bleach alternatives
  • Turn your clothes inside out to protect the outer side when washing

DRYING:

  • Do not dry in a dryer
  • Line dry out of direct sun
  • Ironing is not necessary for a natural cotton look

Embracing Technology

Our development model incorporated a lot of personal interaction and group meetings. After the lockdown we had to come up with new ways to keep in touch with the artisans and their children. Technology was the answer, but there were some obstacles to overcome: limited access to smartphones, unreliable network coverage, and the need for everyone to learn (intimidating) new skills.
