School vacations are deeply anticipated by the children of the artisans. The academic year is demanding, filled with long school days, extra coaching classes, homework, and exams. When the break finally arrives, it brings space to breathe—and the vacation programs are designed to make the most of it. They are rooted in fun and play, but always with a thoughtful learning element woven in.

During the ten-day December break, one of the highlights was a personality development program through theater. The children were divided into age-based teams and given a topic, just fifteen minutes to plan, and three minutes to perform a short skit. The themes ranged from caring for the environment and communicating with parents, to the impact of mobile phones, bullying, and the importance of education. What followed was a joyful display of imagination and confidence. Some children took the lead with ease, others were quieter, but every child found a place on stage—and that sense of inclusion made the performances especially moving.

The kids also went on a day-long picnic to Keshav Srushti, a 22-acre environmental education campus on the outskirts of Mumbai. Designed to nurture social responsibility and environmental awareness, the campus is home to thousands of trees, medicinal plants, birds, and nature trails. For many city children, this kind of immersive experience with nature is rare. Walking among towering trees, spotting birds, and learning about plants used in ayurvedic medicine offered a welcome contrast to crowded streets and screens. It was a day that encouraged curiosity, calm, and a deeper connection to the natural world—lessons that linger well beyond the visit.
