Naziya is the design assistant in our Product Development department. Soft-spoken at first, her strength, focus, and determination quickly shine through. She takes her work seriously and is committed to getting every detail right.
As a child, Naziya dreamed of becoming a teacher, but girls in her community were not allowed to continue their studies. After marriage, her husband encouraged her education, and she went on to complete her bachelor’s in commerce and later her Bachelor of Education—even while pregnant. Though she ultimately didn’t pursue teaching, her dedication to learning never faded.

Naziya lives with her husband, a gym instructor, and their young son. His flexible schedule allows them to share parenting responsibilities and maintain a supportive home life.
She first joined one of the Collectives part-time, where she was introduced to computers, and soon advanced into a full-time role with MarketPlace Mumbai. Today, she works closely with the Assistant Designer and Product Development Manager, guiding embroidery design development with the women artisans.
“She is very respectful of others, and you can see how that respect is returned. She’s also extremely detail-oriented—taking notes and following up, which is essential when we develop so many styles in such a short time,” says Kala Darji, Senior Merchandiser.
“I love working with the women and seeing how the embroidery designs evolve,” Naziya says. “It’s fascinating to watch design trends change and grow.”
