Vasundhara's Journey: From Traditional Sewing to Cooperative Success
A self‐taught seamstress, Vasundhara had never used an electric sewing machine until she began working with the recently formed Nichshay Cooperative. She moved to Mumbai after her marriage 16 years ago. As a young girl, she had been drawn to sewing, fashioning traditional Gujarati dresses. When her son turned six and started school, she joined the cooperative, allowing her to work while taking care of her children.
"I really enjoy the company of the other women and the social programs," she says. "They engage us in something different from our normal routine. I especially love that we celebrate each other's birthdays. It makes each of us feel special."

Soft texture and colors

The colors, cement and black, are seldom seen but are very flattering for me. I snatched this up and am very pleased. There is charming yellow embroidery starting at the front shoulder seam to a fourth of the way down--very subtle but fitting for this elegant underdone garment.
