Finding Her Identity
In their discussions about the value of Independence, the artisans have shared their own stories. As children and young women they were not encouraged to make their own choices and they were not given many opportunities to achieve. Ramila came to Mumbai as a young married girl with no education. “I never thought I could do anything.” Working at MarketPlace gave her not only financial help, but also an independent identity. She's now proud to have bought her own house and educated her children.

Black pants -- you can't live without them

How do I love thee, black pants? Let me count the ways. I've been wearing Marketplace India clothes since I first saw their catalog in the early 1990'2, and I've owned several pairs of black pants in various silhouettes. I wear them under dresses, tops, tunics, sweaters, t-shirts, and I like the distinctive look of Marketplace India pants. These pants are made of a good-looking twill fabric and show off Marketplace India's distinctive embroidery at the lower calf of the leg. I enjoy the length and I love the way the pants move when I walk. I cheer for any pant with an elastic waist (rectangular apple here) and they wash and dry very nicely. You know you need a few pairs of black pants; these good looking pants will fil lthat need, and if my thirty-four years of experience, these will last you a lifetime!

I received my order quickly. I haven't washed them so I can speak to that issue. I gave a four star rating because I wish the twill were a heavier weight.
