Embroidery Bonding: Summer 2024
During the summer of 2024, the children of the artisans visited their mothers' workshops to learn embroidery. The mothers proudly taught them various stitches, and together they designed a sampler. It was a new and special experience for everyone, with each mother feeling immense pride in showing her daughter or son the art of embroidery.
Ranju Yadav remarked, "I never thought my son would ever hold a needle." Her son Aditya added, "I appreciate my mother doing embroidery for hours in addition to her work at home. I am now going to help her more."

This Shirt is HEAVENLY!

I ordered two items from the most recent catalog, one of which is a complete dud, but this shirt is pure unadulterated heaven. The fabric is soft, and grows softer with each wash. The stripe is blissful -- I do love a soft red and deep soft purple together. The cut is flattering on a rectangular body, and you tell me where else you can find clothes that even FIT on a rectangular body! The main reason I love MarketplaceIndia is not only are we supporting a wonderfully liberating workshop model, we're also benefiting from inclusive design and sizing, and unmatched workmanship. I still have and WEAR the first item I bought from MarketplaceINdia in the early 1990's gorgeous Raj jacket. MarketplaceIndia is truly a gift that keeps on giving.

Lovely, comfortable shirt, but ...

I loved the length, the soft fabric, and how the fabric falls around the body. But a shirt like this needs better structure at the collar and yoke, perhaps a double layer of fabric, as with a man's shirt, in order to create some definition around the neck and shoulders. The collar should be stiff enough to stand up. In current form, the collar and neck opening fall flat against the neckline . Not very attractive.
