The Art of Chindi: Reshaping Fashion Through Textile Recycling
The fabric scraps which are left over from cutting and finishing garments are called Chindi in India. These bits and pieces of our beautiful hand‐dyed fabrics are too good to waste, so we have created a number of ways to use them. It's good for the environment too.
You will find them throughout our collection as accents, pannels, borders – whatever we can come up with to add a unique touch to our garments. The process by which this chaotic jumble of colors and patterns is tamed requires both creativity and careful organization.
First the pieces are sorted into light and dark prints, color families and general size. To make the patchworks more consistent, they are then over‐dyed. This way the appearance is more harmonious, and it allows all the pieces in a line to be similar. Our Chindi creations reduce waste, enhance artisans' sewing skills, and showcase unique innovative design techniques.

I'm so glad that I took a closer look at this piece as it's a beauty in person! The care and attention to the pieces of deadstock etc to have a nice balance and harmony, so good. The length and sizing, spot on. I strongly prefer the shell buttons over the coco shell buttons, check. It layers nicely too. Although it has some color range and the patterns vary, I'm going to treat it as a neutral blue in my wardrobe as it goes well with so many of the my other marketplace pieces! Wear with pants then add a jacket and scarf, boom nice unique outfit!
