Clothing With A Past And A Future

Sustainable style isn't just a trend—it's a way of reimagining how we make and wear clothes so they're kinder to the Earth and the people making them. Sometimes that means choosing organic fibers, sometimes plant-based dyes, and sometimes it's the magic of turning textile waste into something completely new.

Here's the thing: clothing companies often order more fabric than they actually use. Most brands toss them and they end up in landfills. But in the right hands, those fabrics get rewoven into stunning, one-of-a-kind textiles with colors and textures you simply can't mass-produce. It's style with a smaller footprint and a bigger story.

That's the magic behind our Ashni Recycled Vest and Ellora Bag. The fabric comes from Agowig, a women-led weaving studio in Bangalore, founded by textile engineer and design grad Nandita Salur. They craft beautiful, low-carbon, low-water fabrics from 100% recycled and upcycled fabrics—each piece woven by hand, each weaver paid fairly and treated with respect.

Behind every piece is a remarkable operation—sourcing fabric waste, sorting it, cutting it into weavable pieces. While the final fabric might look delightfully spontaneous, there's thoughtful planning in every step. Step into their workshop and you'll feel the difference: women working side by side, sharing ideas, laughing over lunch, sometimes with their children by their side. It's a place of respect, collaboration, and joy—where meaningful work happens in a truly supportive community.

The result is clothing with a story — one that keeps valuable resources in use, diverts fabric from landfills, and sustains the livelihoods of skilled artisans. Each piece shows how beautiful design and responsible choices can work together to benefit both people and the planet.
