A Love Letter To 70F-07 - Vol 3

Summer and Stripes!

People ask me all the time if I wear the clothes we make at MarketPlace and my answer is always YES! We work roughly a year ahead to develop our handmade fabrics and fairtrade, artisan-crafted styles. So, by the time the line comes out, everything seems fresh and exciting again and I can shop it like a customer. I've long forgotten the challenges of getting a collar sewn just right, or the problems of color matching a triple dye hand batik.

Sometimes my own picks as a customer surprise me, and one of my favorite pieces this season is one of those instances. At first glance, 70F-07 is a pretty simple item-a black and natural, cotton, yarn-dye striped pant but WOW. When it's in your closet, it's a workhorse and a lot of fun to have around.

A stripe is kind of like a solid, but not. It gives you some structure and a nice vertical line, while remaining lively and playful. Or, it can be more understated if that's what you need. It works with whatever mood you're in. I've had this pant since March or April when the weather was cold and I was wearing black wool sweaters and boots with it. Now, in July, I wear it with sandals and pretty much any color top I can find. Although, honestly, black is still my favorite match!

An all-around winner!
