The Shared Thread Newsletter - Vol 2

Welcome to Volume 2 of the MarketPlace India Newsletter. We were so moved by the responses to our last newsletter—many of you wrote back to share your stories and ask thoughtful questions to the artisans. As we pass your messages along, the artisans feel deeply touched that customers from so far away care about their lives and take the time to connect.

In the coming issues, we'll be sharing the artisans' replies to some of your questions. With 12 cooperatives spread across 7 different neighborhoods, we're putting systems in place to share your messages and gather responses. Your enthusiasm for recipes was met with excitement—those will be arriving soon!

The artisans, however, had some questions for you, too. Many of them spoke about how different their children's lives are compared to their own childhoods in quiet villages. Now raising their families in a fast-paced, crowded city like Mumbai, they face new challenges—long school days, intense academic pressure, and constant competition. On top of that, the growing influence of social media and the rapid pace of technological change make it hard to keep up. They worry about how to guide their children through a world they themselves never experienced.

They ask: How have you seen your children's or grandchildren's lives change over time? What worries do you have about their futures?
