“I got married early and had to stop studying after 12th grade due to financial problems. I want my children to fulfill the dreams I could not. My daughter Sakshi scored very high in her 10th grade and is now preparing for the NEET medical entrance exam, dreaming of becoming a doctor. When my in-laws heard her results,” Savita recalls, smiling, “they distributed sweets in the community and shared her achievement with everyone. That moment made me feel all my sacrifices and efforts were truly worthwhile.”
Savita moved to Mumbai with her husband in 2015 and now lives with him and their two children, Sakshi, in 11th Science, and Arpit, in 8th standard. With her children at school, she found herself with some free time and decided to join a tailoring class. That small decision became a turning point, leading her to join RMM Cooperative in 2020. “My husband has always been very supportive,” she says, “giving me advice, motivation, and guidance for my self-development.”
By nature, Savita is soft-spoken and timid, but through her work, she has discovered a quiet confidence. Reflecting on her journey, she says her tailoring work and being part of the cooperative have taught her valuable lessons—how to communicate with others, build self-esteem, support her children, and recognize her own potential. “From practicing Yoga to celebrating Artisan Day, and attending workshops on communication and parenting, I feel stronger, more confident, and more capable every day,” she adds.
Today, Savita balances her family, her work, and her dreams with grace. “I am truly grateful for my life and for everything it has taught me,” she says, her gentle smile reflecting pride, contentment, and hope for the future.
